Day 150 – 30May2011 – Paulownia tomentosa

Project 365 HG – Paulownia tomentosa.

Day 150 – The warm weather in the past week has brought quite a change in the Gardens. The Empress Tree (Paulownia) has exploded and is now in full bloom with its trumpet-like purple flowers.

A remarkable tree, rumoured to be the only flowering Paulownia in Nova Scotia!

Of the Beauty of Winter…

Right about this time of year, many people start to get a little tired of Old Man Winter. A bit weary of the cold, anxious to store away the shovels, dreaming of spring. So right about this time of year, I’m usually moved to share some of the really beautiful aspects of winter, just to remind us that there is good in everything Mother Nature does – but sometimes you have to really look for it!

Paulownia (Empress Tree) flower buds…

Chinese Catalpa looks neat all winter!

Winter is beautiful, no question. Especially in a garden like the Historic Gardens!
