Cafe Supervisor: Application Deadline Friday May 15.
We are seeking a creative and talented foodie to help us provide a great visitor experience at the Elm Tree Café. The Café Supervisor will work in all aspects of the café service – ordering, food prep and serving, and must have experience and qualifications in foodservice. The position will require front line work and customer interaction as well as supervision. Full time, seasonal. An exciting opportunity to help us shape & develop this Garden experience for our visitors!

Horticultural Assistant: Application Deadline Friday May 15.
We are looking for an experienced, energetic and knowledgeable gardener to join the horticultural team for Canada’s Garden of the Year. You will assist in all aspects of garden care as well as horticultural management. Full time, seasonal. Must have experience and qualifications in ornamental horticulture. Maintenance Person: Application Deadline Friday May 15.
We need a handy individual with a broad skill set to look after maintenance and upkeep of buildings & infrastructure at the Historic Gardens as well as our gardening equipment. Duties will be varied, including regular maintenance as well as required repairs and some special projects and improvements. Full time, seasonal (variable hours) with some part time in the winter months.

Student Employment – Visitor Services: Application Deadline Friday May 15.
We are accepting applications from enthusiastic students with great people skills who would like to join our team for the summer months, working in the many aspects of visitor services. The Historic Gardens was recently named Canada’s Garden of the Year, and part of that award is from our terrific level of service. A wonderful opportunity to work in a beautiful environment and interact with thousands of people from all over the world.

Student Employment – Acadian Guide: Application Deadline Friday May 15.
We are seeking an enthusiastic student with an interest in Acadian history to provide costumed guide services at the Acadian House. Must have strong oral skills in both English and French, as well as great people skills. Acadian ancestry an asset. A great work experience as you share this very important part of our past with visitors from around the world.

Yes, it’s back!

Plan to visit the Historic Gardens in Annapolis Royal on Tuesday, August 6, 5-8pm for the annual Acadian Kitchen Party. A great time was had by all at the “first ever” Historic Gardens Acadian Kitchen Party in August 2012, and the community and visitors alike are looking forward to even more fun in 2013!


Experience a unique evening in the mid-summer Gardens surrounded by the dynamic sound of Acadian kitchen band Unisson! It will be a toe-tapping time – you won’t be able to sit still! Celebrated Nova Scotia story teller Laurent D’Entremont will join the fun to treat everyone a few tales. Enjoy nibbles with an Acadian flair and Nova Scotia wine, beer, and cider. Be sure to bring along a lawn chair or blanket so you can relax, settle in and enjoy the evening!


Children are welcome to enjoy this licensed event with their families! Please note: Minors under age 19 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tickets $20 (Children 7-12 pay half price, and under 6, free). Cash bar.

As I was leaving the Gardens Office tonight at almost 6pm, I noticed, happily I might add, that the sun was just setting.

I was happy not for the sunset, nor the colour, nor the photo opp… I was happy because a 6pm sunset is a sign that the days are truly getting longer!
