Current COVID Protocols – As of Nov 1, 2022
The Historic Gardens continues to follow enhanced health and safety measures as our commitment to the safety of visitors, staff and volunteers.
Masks are RECOMMENDED in all indoor locations (eg Gift Shop, Offices). Our indoor spaces are small, and the use of masks helps us provide the safest possible atmosphere for visitors, staff and volunteers at this time.
We will continue to review and modify our protocols and will post all updates on this website as well as at the Gardens Entrance.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Detailed COVID Rules & Protocols:
Whether in the height of our summer or in the off season, our COVID protocols are still very important to provide the safest possible place for visitors and staff alike. The following is a description of our current protocols in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
First and foremost, please do not visit the Gardens if any of the following apply:
- you are feeling unwell
- if you or a close contact have been advised to self-isolate for any reason
.
Face Masks:
Fortunately, most of your Gardens experience is in the open air so masks are not generally needed. We recommend masks for INDOOR locations, or for activities or tours where people are gathered closely. COVID circumstances and restrictions change frequently sometimes, so please watch for signs or ask staff what rules are in place when you arrive.
If you find yourself without a mask, we have a small supply of disposable masks for visitors who simply forgot to bring one.
.
Social Distancing – We are creating a safe environment, and we count on our visitors to continue to give each other space and respect social distancing practices.
.
Gardens Gift Shop – (Face masks STRONGLY RECOMMENDED in the Shop)
We welcome visitors to our Shop to browse or to make any inquiries. Memberships are also available in the Shop as well as online. We have hand sanitizer at the Shop entrance and ask all shoppers to make use of it on the way in and not to handle gift items unnecessarily.
.
Washrooms – Closed for the Season. Please make use of the Town Public Washrooms at 24 Drury Lane.
.
Elm Tree Cafe – Closed for the season. Please visit www.exploreannapolisroyal.com for information on local dining.
Capacity in the Elm Tree Cafe is limited so please check with the staff when you arrive. Most of the menu items are available “to go” so you can eat outside on the patio or a nearby bench.
.
A few other notes:
- Visitors cannot bring picnic lunches into the Gardens.
- Hand sanitizer will be available to visitors in the Shop, Cafe and other public areas.
COVID safety measures remain an important part of our operation, so please watch for signs at our entry every time you visit.
