Day 312 – 08Nov2011 – Autumn Enkianthus

Project 365 HG – Autumn Enkianthus.

Day 312 – The fall colour in the Historic Gardens is awesome.

This variety of Redvein Enkianthus can be seen on your left as you walk from the Pine Forest area to the Marsh Lookoff. Its fall colour is stunning, and its leaf formation very pretty. Blooming in late spring / early summer, it has small bell-shaped flowers (the shape reminds me of blueberry blossoms), dark red with pink streaks. A great plant!
