Project 365 HG – Apothecary’s Rose.

Day 181 – The Rose Collection at Annapolis Royal’s Historic Gardens is one of the largest in Eastern Canada, with more than 270 cultivars and some 1500 bushes.

This is the Apothecary’s Rose, or Rosa gallica officinalis… also known as the Red Rose of Lancaster. It is one of the oldest cultivated roses. It is called the Apothecary Rose because of its long history of medicinal use.
