Day 148 – 28May2011 – Korean Mountain Ash

Project 365 HG – Korean Mountain Ash.

Day 148 – One of my favourite trees in the Historic Gardens is the Korean Mountain Ash (Sorbus alnifolia). The flowers are dainty, but in clusters so are very showy overall. In the fall, they form clusters of red berries.

But I think the coolest thing about the Korean Mountain Ash is its bark, which has little diamond patterns all along the trunk. Take a closer look next time you see one.
