Day 107 – 17Apr2011 – Stormy Dykes

Project 365 HG – Stormy Dykes.

Day 107 – One of the unique features at the Historic Gardens is the dykeland along the Allain’s River. The Gardens dykes are built on the remnants of old Acadian dykes that date back to the 17th century, on land that was once “Belliveau” property.

A dykewalk allows visitors to wander the dykes out along the riverside, from where they can see remnants of other old dykes, stack staddles, and learn about this old salt marsh.

This photo was taken through a rainy car window, but I actually really likes the wavy effect that created!
