Another Funky Feature in the Historic Gardens is the Black Pussy Willow. This interesting shrub sports black “catkins” along its branches in late winter and early spring. I could tell you more, but instead I will refer you to a great article I found on the web, from the Arnold Arboretum.
The Black Pussy Willow at the Historic Gardens is located on the south side of the Courtyard Pond. For the GPS Geeks in the crowd, the coordinates are N 44 44.445 and W 065 30.859

It’s well worth a good look as you stroll the Gardens and take in the sights and sounds of spring! Enjoy!

This shrub, bought at the Dinner Auction a few years ago, was one I could not bear to leave behind in Nova Scotia when we moved back to Ontario in 2006..
It travelled by car, driven by a friend, then was left parked at a garage near the Airport that we would be flying into.. and then a further drive to our new home..
Total time from being dug up, through sitting in the dark of a trunk, and being re-planted……. 11 days…
She forgave us all that, as well as very sandy untreated soil, a far cry from her previous “home” and has flourished and delighted us for three Springs now….
A truly delightful Funky friend… thanks to Annapolis Historic Gardens…
Glad to hear the plant survived the trip OK and is thriving in Ontario! It must look great right about now!
